Come Outside: Accessibility at UEC

The Urban Ecology Center opens its doors to many people every day. We provide them with fun and interactive educational activities and programs. To make our branches more accessible for people with disabilities, we provide the following at all three locations:

  • Sidewalk level or ramped entrances
  • Wheelchair accessible bathrooms.
  • Sensory kits that provide tactile items as well as information in both large print and braille for our visitors who are blind or visually impaired (ask the receptionists for this kit when you arrive at the Center). Click here to learn more about our sensory kits.

To schedule a guided tour, please call a Visitor Services staff member and let us know how we can accommodate your needs.

Riverside Park: 414-964-8505
Washington Park: 414-344-5460
Menomonee Valley: 414-431-2940

Looking to get outside? Take a walk or roll on one of the trails near our branches!

  • There are paved paths in Riverside, Washington and Three Bridges Parks and in the Milwaukee Rotary Centennial Arboretum.
  • Venture west of the Arboretum to find crushed stone and packed dirt paths along the Milwaukee River. These paths are rugged, so use caution along this route.
  • Our Riverside Park branch is along the Oak Leaf Recreational Trail – a paved path that can connect you to 118 miles of off-road paved trails, park drives and municipal streets throughout Milwaukee.
  • Our Menomonee Valley branch is along the Hank Aaron State Trail - a paved, 12-mile continuous connection between the lakefront and Milwaukee's west end.
