A Beautiful Day for a Hike

The Urban Ecology Center hosted our second annual benefit hike, HKE MKE, on Sunday, September 18 and it was a beautiful day for the 2.5 mile hike! Over 400 people of all ages enjoyed the hike along the Milwaukee River Corridor and the Milwaukee Rotary Centennial Arboretum, participating in interactive stops along the way.

Through the combined efforts of all of our hikers and some generous matching donors, over $46,000 was raised! We are humbled by the generosity of our participants, and by the generosity of their friends and family. HKE MKE raised important funds to support the Urban Ecology Center's programming that connects youth and adults to nature.

The route’s activity stops included the TMJ4 Storm Chaser in Gordon Park, lawn games the River Revitalization Foundation (RRF), Creation Station for a community mural, Spot the Bird, and the 3 Billion Year Walk. Take a look at how much fun people had along the way:

Lots of hikers participated by pictures from the path and shared photos to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

We also had fantastic volunteers helping to guide hikers along the route:
