Stories of the UEC

In our December 2017 Weekly Guide emails we introduced our supporters and friends to some people they helped connect to the outdoors. We think their stories are pretty awesome so we put them together in case you missed any of the updates. Experience the Urban Ecology Center through the videos below. You'll find a determined teen, a budding butterfly scientist, a Menomonee Valley family, and one of our monthly donors.

Bear

Meet Alberto Kanost, aka Bear. Your support gave him the opportunity to take his passion for science and focus on detailed career possibilities and hands-on experience through our High School Outdoor Leader program. Then, through his UEC Summer Internship, he learned even more.

But let's have Bear tell you himself. Click the video to meet this amazing young man and learn the opportunities you provided through your support of the UEC!

Miranda

It only takes one spark to ignite a child’s love of science and nature for the rest of their lives. Through Urban Ecology Center Summer Camps, kids are getting outside and participating in hands-on, science-based learning and loving it!

We’ll let Miranda tell you all about it. And about why she’s planning her career as a butterfly scientist.

The Villanueva family

Our supporters ensure that hands-on, science-based programs are thriving at all three Urban Ecology Center branches - activities that inspire the whole family!

Take a look at how you’re making a difference for the Villanueva family in the Menomonee Valley.

As José Villanueva said "this center is for everybody." Get outside and connect with our bilingual staff at our Menomonee Valley branch.

Jennine

Together we are doing great work, but there is always more we can do. Monthly donors allow us to spend more time and resources on programs that help to achieve this goal and have an even deeper, sustained effect on the community we serve. Let monthly donor, Jennine, tell you all about it!

Giving monthly is a commitment to provide hands-on environmental education to children and communities in Milwaukee while also working to preserve the land we all stand on.

We're very grateful for our supporters. Their gifts get more kids and families outside, inspiring the next generation of scientists. We’re all in this together!

We’d like to ask you to consider giving a donation to the Urban Ecology Center in honor of Bear, Miranda, the Villanueva's, and/or Jennine.

I want to donate and help create more stories like these!
