Summer Camps are coming!

Plows rumble through the streets creating piles of sledding potential and wonderful winter experiences while every peek of the sun promises warmer weather to come. As we relish each moment of the changes in our outdoors, we are getting ready for summer camp at the Urban Ecology Center!

We are planning for another summer of engaging camp experiences and outdoor adventures for children who are completing kindergarten through fourth grades. We invite your campers to join our professional Summer Camp staff at all three branches of the Urban Ecology Center. There are so many adventures ahead! We will build forts, explore habitats, observe creatures, climb, develop new outdoor skills and so much more! Camps may lead campers on ‘treasure’ hunts, fishing excursions, birding ventures, jumping into our favorite nature books, and becoming artists. Join us for adventures one week at a time, or check out our multi-week camps for kindergarten through second grades.

Urban Ecology Center Summer camps have been a favorite childhood activity for participants and promise wonderful adventures for campers once again! Campers will have the opportunities to explore outdoors and the freedom to choose their activities and take advantage of the benefits of play, like building strong connections with peers and their environment.

“Summer camp is so fun! Why not?!” –Will, Summer Camper for Life.

The Urban Ecology Center is closely monitoring the public health situation and we are planning camps under our current health and safety protocols, including mask-wearing, physical distance, and prioritizing outdoor activity. In compliance with child care licensing codes, protocols may be adjusted in response to changes in public health and safety guidelines.

“I spend most of the year looking forward to Summer Camp. What could be more fun than canoeing our rivers, catching bugs, and romping around in the woods? Summers allow campers to decide where we explore based on their interests. At the end of the camp day, the campers and I are tired, sweaty, and happy. My absolute favorite part of the summer is watching campers grow confidence in themselves and the love and connection to our parks. Only 5 more months!!” –Annie Ela, Environmental Educator and Summer Camp Energizer

Summer camp at the Urban Ecology Center has new discoveries around every corner as we enrich the curiosities of school-aged children and inspire them as stewards of our neighborhoods and the environment. Let’s keep nature in childhood and make it a summer of boundless curiosity!

Visit our calendar of events on or after February 2nd to find the perfect programs for your campers!

Thanks to our generous donors, need-based scholarships are available for children to attend camp. We also accept Wisconsin Shares Child Care Assistance for Urban Ecology Center camps.
