Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart."

- Elizabeth Andrew

We have amazing volunteers at the Urban Ecology Center. It’s a simple statement, but it’s so true!

Without our volunteers, our phones would ring unanswered, invasive species would run rampant through the parks we manage, kids on our climbing wall would be un-belayed (a scary thought!), and our special events, well, they just wouldn’t happen! We rely so heavily on our volunteers every single day to help us with our field trip programs, our land stewardship projects, our community science research, running the front desk, and so much more. We are incredibly lucky and grateful for each and one every of them.

Check out this video on bird banding - just one of the many Urban Ecology Center projects that our volunteers help make possible!

To our volunteers: You give your time, your energy, your wisdom, and your compassion. You have become a huge part of the Urban Ecology Center family. We thank you every single day, and on one special day, we’d like to give you an extra special thank you by throwing you a Volunteer Appreciation Party.

This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Party will take place on Wednesday, November 16th from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Come enjoy a campfire, delicious food, and entertainment provided by the very talented Urban Ecology Center staff! Here is a schedule of events:

  • 5:00 - 6:00 pm - Campfire fun! S’mores, music, stories and more!
  • 6:00 - 7:00 pm - Enjoy a delicious arrangement of heavy appetizers.
  • 7:00 - 8:00 pm - End the night with entertainment by the staff and a dessert bar.

Please come join us on November 16th to celebrate…YOU! Arrive whenever you’re able and stay for as long as you can. We can’t wait to see you! Please click below to RSVP/register by November 9th.
