#MKEEarthMonth Eco-Tips: Reuse

This week is about reusing! Our tips will give you ideas about how to reuse things instead of recycling or throwing them away after one use. Reusing something is an easy way to reduce the amount of items you need to buy and the amount of waste you produce.

Reuse

Reusing items can save money and prevent items from ending up in landfills. Try out these easy tips and watch the amount of garbage you take to the curb shrink! Have a tip for us? Tweet us with #MKEEarthMonth to share!

  1. Bring your lunch to work or school in a reusable bag or box.
  2. Find great vintage items at thrift stores instead of buying something brand new.
  3. Instead of buying a new bottle of cleaning spray refill it with a simple homemade cleaner:
    • Fill the bottle with ¼ - ½ cup of white vinegar, 2 Tablespoons baking soda, a few drops of tea tree or eucalyptus essential oil (optional), and enough water to fill bottle.
  4. Reuse glass pasta sauce jars as food containers or to store homemade sauces.
  5. Disposable razors generate a lot of waste. Look for a reusable razor or one that can be recycled.
  6. Reuse paper that is only printed on one side.
  7. Use napkins and towels made of cloth instead of paper.
