Year-End Reminders:
- All gifts need to be effective by Dec. 31 to be tax-deductible in 2022.
- Many organizations, including the UEC, are closed Dec. 31 - Jan. 2.
- Electronic stock, Donor Advised Fund and IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions transfers are effective on the date the stock is received, not the date it was sent.
- Checks sent via US Mail and postmarked by Dec. 31 do qualify as a charitable donation made in 2022, regardless of when the charity receives the check.
Ways to Give:
1. Monetary donations - Last minute gifts are best made online via credit card. To further your impact, create a buzz with a monthly gift for 2023.
2. Workplace Giving - Don't forget to ask your employer if they'll match your 2022 contributions!
3. Donor Advised Fund - Giving through a Donor Advised Fund streamlines your giving to maximize your impact! Plus, you get an immediate tax deduction!
4. Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) - If you are over age 70.5, you can transfer a gift directly from your IRA. This counts towards your required minimum distributions without being considered taxable income (win-win!).
5. Planned Giving - Gifts of the future come in many forms - bequests, stocks, insurance, real estate, trusts, and more.
Giving should be a stress-free experience that fills your heart with joy. Please reach out to us if you need any assistance making a gift.
